HAPPY HALLOWEEN MARSDEN PARK
I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone participating in our Halloween event this year because as I say every single year; And have done so now on Channel 7, Channel 9, Channel 10, Various local newspaper’s and also to interviewers who have covered the “Elara trick or treat hunt” over the years :
“The success of this event is a credit to the community here, And their willingness to get out and enjoy these festivities together..”
”As a promoter I’m really lucky to be working in an area that is full of young families with kid’s who enjoy these events and also new home owners who are eager to get out and explore their new home and take every opportunity they can to get out and enjoy this new community with their neghbour’s - It makes my job really easy..”
From humble beginnings in 2018, As an idea borne out of pure necessity to protect young kids from being yelled at by angry residents who did not understand or want to accommodate trick or treaters I first started making this map.
From there the trick or treat event just got bigger and bigger every as people began to understand how it worked, And with more & more support over the years it grew into a MONSTER !
We added food trucks & stalls, disco’s, we hired more staff, got more sponsors, paid for professional traffic controllers etc but the bigger it got the more space it needed and soon it was just “too big to support” for our local council who for a number of different reasons including but not limited to road safety concerns stopped approving our use of the parks & playgrounds of the estate.
With nowhere else to turn we joined forces with Elara Village who helped us when nobody else would give us a location saving our event last year which was almost not going to happen at one stage - The only catch is they can only accommodate us on Saturday night !
2023 we held the biggest & best Halloween event ever in Sydney and possibly Australia.
While we would LOVE to do it all again, Running the event on a Saturday night was an issue for some people and some of our most important participants and supporters also came to us independently pleading that we would return the event to its traditional & official date October 31st.
This year, At the request of many we have returned the event to its official date.
To facilitate this we had to scale back the event as the 31st this year falls on a Thursday so I hope that you all enjoy it !
This event is my favorite of the calendar year and my team work extremely hard to put it together, A lot goes in to it and many people and organizations must come together to make it happen every year so thank you to all of the as well - Have an awesome Halloween !
